MapRank ("MapRank", "we", "us") provides a mobile application that helps local businesses and marketers track their Google Business Profile visibility and local search rankings across a geographic area ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

A) Information You Provide

Depending on how you use the App, you may provide:

  • Account information: email address and authentication details (for example, password or sign-in tokens).
  • Business information: business name, address, Google Business Profile details, and other information you enter to set up tracking.
  • Keywords and scan configuration: search keywords, grid size, scan area, and related settings you configure for ranking scans.
  • Subscription and billing: if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do not receive or store your payment card details.
  • Support communications: messages you send to us if you contact support.

B) Information Collected Automatically

When you use the App and our services, we (and our service providers) may automatically receive:

  • Device and app information: device type, operating system version, app version, language, time zone, and similar technical details.
  • Log and network information: IP address, timestamps, and events necessary to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the App.
  • Push notification token: if you enable push notifications, we collect and store a push token associated with your account to deliver notifications.

C) Location Information

If you grant location permission, we collect approximate or precise location (depending on your device settings and permission) to center your ranking grid on a relevant area and improve the scan setup experience. You can change location permissions at any time in your device settings. Note that ranking scans themselves are performed based on the grid coordinates you configure, not your real-time device location.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and operate the App, including account creation, login, and core features such as ranking scans and heatmap generation.
  • Perform ranking scans, including sending your configured keywords and grid coordinates to third-party data providers to retrieve local search ranking results.
  • Display results and insights, including generating heatmaps, historical comparisons, and ranking data for the businesses and keywords you track.
  • Manage subscriptions, including verifying your plan status and enforcing usage limits.
  • Send notifications (if enabled), such as scan completion alerts and product updates you opt into.
  • Maintain safety and security, prevent abuse, and debug issues.
  • Communicate with you, including responding to support requests.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information in the following circumstances:

A) With Service Providers (Processors)

We use third-party vendors to run the App and provide features. These vendors process information on our behalf and under their own privacy policies, including:

  • Convex (backend infrastructure, database, and real-time data).
  • Google Maps Platform / Google APIs (maps, place data, geocoding, and related location services).
  • DataForSEO (local search ranking data used to generate scan results).
  • Apple App Store / Google Play (subscription billing and payment processing).

When you run a ranking scan, your configured keywords, grid coordinates, and business identifiers may be sent to these providers to return results.

B) For Legal, Safety, and Business Reasons

We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to:

  • comply with law or legal process,
  • protect the rights, safety, and security of users or the public,
  • enforce our policies, or
  • support a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets (in which case we will take steps to protect your information).

4. Your Choices and Rights

  • Account and profile: you can review and update your account information in the App.
  • Location: you can allow or deny location access in device settings.
  • Notifications: you can opt in/out of push notifications in device settings.
  • Subscriptions: you can manage or cancel your subscription through your device's App Store or Google Play settings.
  • Delete your account: to request account deletion, contact us at support@maprank.app. We may need to verify your identity before completing the request.

If you live in certain jurisdictions (for example, the EEA/UK or California), you may have additional rights such as access, deletion, correction, or portability. You can contact us at support@maprank.app to make a request.

5. Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as necessary to provide the App and for legitimate business purposes (such as security, fraud prevention, and dispute resolution). Scan results and historical ranking data are retained to provide trend and comparison features. If you request deletion, we will delete or de-identify your information unless we are required or permitted to keep it by law.

6. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

MapRank is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under the minimum age required by law in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us at support@maprank.app.

8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, including where our service providers operate. We take steps designed to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers where required by law.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and may provide additional notice in the App.
